Our Story
The arts have followed me my entire life, anytime I saw a new technique or medium I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and master it, and pastry arts were no exception. When the time came to choose a career path, I gravitated toward getting a post-secondary education in Film & Media Production, due to my love of photography, pop culture, and storytelling. Although, I quickly learned that the lifestyle that went along with film was not one that I was meant for. I ultimately left the program halfway through, without a degree, but having found the love of my life, so I think I did pretty okay!!
I then decided to go to culinary school, where I obtained a certificate in Baking Pre-Employment and a diploma in Baking & Pastry Arts Management. I spent the next 7 years honing my skills in various bake shops across the city of Toronto. I worked all over; in cake shops, bread bakeries, vegan cafes, chocolate shops... the more I could learn and master, the better!
This led to me figuring out that confections are where my passion truly lies, but still, I just wasn’t getting what I wanted out of my work experiences. So, with the help of my wonderful husband, WatermelonMoon was born! I wanted to create a brand of confections that was delicious, yet fun, nostalgic, but reinvented, and simple, while still entirely original. We pride ourselves on our choice of quality ingredients, and flavour forward experience -always making sure things taste incredible, and then formulating their stunning look to reflect that.
I would like to thank all of my friends and family who’ve supported me so far on this journey, every sale has brought me one step closer to this point, so thank you so much for continuing to fuel my entrepreneurial dream!
And to all of my new customers, I hope you too can find something you love at WatermelonMoon, I’m just so excited to start serving you!!
